Workshop: Playfully discovering of Duisburg

28.06.2016

Last week students from schools in Düsseldorf and Duisburg participated in a game design workshop by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maic Masuch with the topic of a software-project called „Town history told different“.

Within the project an app is developed that playfully gives an understanding of history, culture and sights od Duisburg. It is solely developed by students.
This project idea arose at the “NRW Hackathon – Hack für Deine Bildung” in February 2016, where the concept of a multilingual city guide based on Open Data as game app won the first prize. Since then, the development of the app is supported by the project International Junior Councillor Advisor of the city of Duisburg in cooperation with the city of Nijmegen.

Within the workshop the students discussed about design & development like defining the right target group for the app and their expectations of the game structure, the art-design and the scale of implementation relating to the current mobile technology.
