Bridge VR

Virtual Reality offers us a tremendous amount of opportunities to create amazing gaming experiences in simulated worlds. Within the project “Bridge VR” (working title), we explore what games are possible when mixing virtual and real world objects. Thus, we develop a playground in a science fiction “escape room” scenario, where players have to interact with physical objects. Therefore, we used a leap motion hand-tracking sensor mounted on a HTC VIVE virtual reality display. This allows us to display virtual versions of the player’s actual hands and to enable interaction and object manipulation by hand instead of controllers. The highlight of this experience is the full sized rope bridge, which was originally constructed as a prototype by the student’s bachelor course “Creating a VR Playground” in the summer term in 2016. Now, we are planning a more flexible and transportable version of this prototype.
