Abstract

This master's thesis deals with the research question, whether a social facilitation effect in digital games can be observed. For this purpose, a game and a digital agent is developed. The foundations for digital games, virtual agents and the social facilitation effect will be given. Then a concept for the digital game is presented, as well as the development of a virtual agent. In addition, a version of the game of the game with a meaningful replacement of the agent, will be presented. Then the game is used in an online study. In the last section of this thesis the results of the study are presented and discussed.
