Abstract

Computer games that require physical activity (exergames) have proven to be a promising approach to increasing motivation for physical activity. Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) exergames, in particular, show strong effects on the players' motivation and performance. Music exergames are among the most popular VR titles available today. Additionally, research has shown that the use of music which reacts to an athlete (interactive music), can have performance and motivation-enhancing effects. However, the importance of interactive music has yet received little attention in the literature on exergaming. Therefore, this master thesis investigates how the use of interactive music in VR Exergames influences the player's motivation and performance.
